When I first heard of Bukit Batu Bujang Pahang, my first thought was Pahang, Malaysia. But it is actually a hill in Brunei at Pulau Berambang. If you don't know where Pulau Berambang is, look at the picture below:
It was actually planned months ago but due to our busy schedule it was postponed and postponed and finally we did it on 6 October 2014 and it was a public holiday for Hari Raya Haji.
Initially, there were 16 of us who wanted to join but due to this picture that was sent to our whatsapp group chat by the organiser (I wonder who...), 3 bailed out or should I say chicken out...hahahaha ...
Anyway, let's move on with the story.....
Meeting point was at Pintu Malim mosque at 6.30am.
I was there before 6.30am and I thought I was the early one but Jeff was ahead of me :) Then follow by CH, Boon, Shirley, Andy, Doris, Jeffrey, Jenny, Vivan and Pure. Hmmm...now we left with the love birds Napier and Celine...They arrived 15 mins later.
Once everyone arrived, we proceed to the mosque's jetty to catch the boat to Pulau Berambang. The weather was overcast and we were hoping it stays that way. The boat journey to Pulau Berambang jetty is about 5mins.
Our organiser CH gave us a short briefing on what to do and not to do when we are in the jungle. You know la all this pantang here pantang there cannot say this and that in the jungle. It's for our own good anyway.
Just before we head on for our 1 hour walk to the foot of BBBP, of course we took a group photo with our fresh and energetic faces ^_^
The weather was really good and the walk was very pleasant. As I walk and passes by people and houses, I do not feel like I was in Brunei. The road is made of concrete. I saw few cars without license plate and school girls on motorbike without any license plate. And the people there are friendly. All smiles and feel welcoming.
First stop was the Village Head or Ketua Kampong house to inform him of our existence. Then we continue our walk to the nearest Tuckshop or shall I say Toilet Stop.
Some were relieved that they can sit down for awhile and some were relieved that the Tuck Shop sells SUPERGLUE! Why Superglue ... See Below ....
3 pairs of shoes need the power of Superglue to keep them going. 2 pairs survived but the other pair cannot be safe anymore. If Superglue doesn't work, use nylon rope. IMPROVISE!
After 45mins of walking, we finally arrived the foot of Bukit Batu Bujang Pahang. We were quite excited when we reached there but after looking at the steps, some definitely swallow tons of saliva before heading up.
Hiking begins...
